Your policy is there to make it easy for you to get preventive care, and it can go a long way toward mitigating the cost of restorative services. As your Delta Dental Premier dentist in Greeley, we’ll be happy to help you understand your plan and use it in a way that keeps your out of pocket costs as low as possible.
Delta Dental Premier Coverage Availability & Fees
If you have a Delta Dental Premier PPO plan, you are allowed to visit any licensed dentist. Regardless of which dentist you go to, you can use your plan and take advantage of huge savings on approved services. However, costs tend to be lowest at in-network dentists.
Delta Dental has a dual network, fees might be slightly different at Premier network providers vs. PPO network providers. This is due to restrictions that Delta puts on the cost of certain services. However, you can visit a dentist in either network and expect similar coverage rates.
The nature of your coverage depends on your specific plan. For example:
The Premium and Enhanced plans cover most preventive services, such as cleanings, exams, and topical fluoride, at 100% when you visit an in-network dentist. Minor restorative services, such as fillings, are covered at 80%. Major services are typically covered at 50%.
The Basic covers fewer services than the Premium and Enhanced plans, but its monthly premium is quite low.
The Clear plan requires you to visit in-network dentists and charges slightly higher fees for basic services.
The Premier, Enhanced, and Basic plans all come with an annual maximum, which is the highest amount that Delta will pay out for approved services within a calendar year. The Premium plan has the highest allowance — $2,000. The Enhanced and Basic plans have an annual maximum of just $1,000. Waiting periods usually apply for restorative services, such as crowns and fillings.
Before you come to our office for your appointment, we’ll strive to verify your coverage so we can help you make wise treatment decisions. For example, if you are close to hitting your annual maximum, we may be able to schedule some services across two calendar years so you can keep your out of pocket costs to a minimum.
